I'm caught up with appointments and chores in advance of Friday the 13th.

I have popcorn and plan on od-ing on spooky TV and movies tomorrow.

I hope that everybody enjoyed Little Halloween.

We had a scary Valentines themed party for the kids and their friends, everybody was dressed in costumes and they also handed out Valentines cards to each other. There was one kid around 8 years old dressed as a werewolf, and he was crushing on my wife for the whole party, he was following her around and watching her, and eventually he went up to her and gave her a card and some chocolates. She thanked him and he stood there awkwardly for a moment before he walked away, I honestly think that the kid was expecting a kiss from her.

I pointed out to my wife that he has a crush on her and she just smiled and said that he was just being nice. So I teased her and said ... Hey, at least he's trying ... I mean, who wouldn't want chocolates from a werewolf?

Andy, did you make that picture?

I'm afraid to admit that I may have developed an unhealthy addiction to Grok.

Did I make it? technically no.

Did I tell an algorithm what I wanted, yes.

Your spooky Valentine's party sounds like it was fun, too!

We did nothing special for Little Halloween or Valentine's, but my daughter took me out to the movie Send Help on Sunday, which is billed as a horror comedy. She enjoyed it more than I did, I fear. For one thing, I think she went into it knowing better what to expect. It had some scary and even gruesome moments, but I didn't find much of it very funny. I mean, it had its moments. But I think my main issue is that I didn't really like either of the main characters, although I like both the actors. But the guy was a jerk and the woman was downright psychotic, and I found myself sympathizing at times with first one and then the other. Maybe it was more of a satire than a comedy, because it kind of keeps you at a distance from both characters. And I guess the ending, which I won't spoil in case you want to see it, was meant to make some comment on our society today.

I haven't heard of that movie yet, though I've been busier than usual lately, and the only movies that I've been watching are usually family friendly.

Andy, I doubt that you're becoming addicted to it, but I guess it depends on how long you spend using it. You should post more of your results here. At least the quality of the images is getting better, I mean the people look close enough to real, and look ... They actually have the correct number of fingers.

I think Send Help was released in late January but is still in theaters. Critics and audiences liked it a lot. It's directed by someone named Sam Raimi. I don't know who he is, but apparently he has a following in horror, and many viewers knew better what to expect from him than I did.

The set up for Send Help is as follows: a frumpy woman is passed over for promotion by her new, younger boss, even though she has been the most productive worker in the company for seven years. A select group flies to Thailand for a business meeting, but the plane crashes. This disgruntled employee and the self-centered boss are the sole survivors on an uninhabited island.

Rachel McAdams and Dylan O'Brien are the leads. She is gorgeous, of course, but they dress her down the way they did Sandra Bullock in Miss Congeniality. We adored O'Brien in Love and Monsters back in 2020. I'd recommend that movie unreservedly, and it would be fine for family viewing, too.

It's directed by someone named Sam Raimi. I don't know who he is,
I legitimately burst out laughing when I read that.

He has had a awesome career, and he's directed a number of good movies including the Evil Dead trilogy and the Spider-Man trilogy from 2002–2007, as well as Oz the Great and Powerful, just to name a few.

I saw Send Help listed online last night, maybe I'll watch it this weekend if there isn't anything else on. We did watch Love and Monsters when it came out, it was a good movie but I doubt that the kids remember it because they were so young. Honestly, that would have been a great movie to show at the recent Little Halloween party we had, but I'll definitely play it for them next month.

Yeah, I have a bad habit of ignoring directors much of the time. I've never seen the Evil Dead Trilogy, but I did see that Spiderman trilogy in the aughts. The one with Toby MacGuire, right? I did like that one.

I think Send Help is rated R, so don't watch it when your kids are around.

Many people on line who enjoyed Send Help remarked that they saw it with a large audience who also enjoyed it and laughed a lot. My daughter and I went to a nearby discount theater, and there were maybe six people there. So not having a full audience reaction might have hindered my experience. Lots of people find it very funny. I think maybe you're supposed to sympathize with the woman more than I did. She just crossed some lines I didn't like.
