One thing I love about that movie is the way they capture that late-19th century, fin de siecle feel during the section where Dracula is young again and courting Mina in London. I also enjoy some of the film techniques which recall films from previous decades. And the shadow thing with Dracula when Johnathan Harker first meets him is a direct homage to Nosferatu, and very creepy.
ETA: I agree about the miscasting of Keanu in that movie. I have never cared for him much, anyway. However, without Winona Ryder there would have been no movie. It is my understanding that it was her baby from the start.
I went for comedy yesterday--American Werewolf in London in the afternoon, Ghostbusters in the evening.
Yeah I believe Dracula was her peace offering to Coppola for ditching him on...Godfather 3 maybe? Can't remember exactly. Just remember she was supposed to do a film with him and bailed out and I guess at the time, he wasn't someone you wanted to cross in Hollywood.

Have you seen the UK version yet? It's really good. And the dude that plays the werewolf is soooo much better. I prefer the American version though. Probably because those English folks talk so funny
. I've only watched a couple episodes into the second season because I don't want to learn any important plot points about 'Being Human US'.

Yes I have but I didn't see those from the onset so I was a little lost but I really like the American actors in the US series...especially Josh the Werewolf...he is so good and his face transmits his emotions so well...you feel sorry for him, angry at the other people and happy when he is actually happy...it's amazing.
Also the Vampire Aidan is good too...

I have tried to watch that twice, and I have fallen asleep both time.....I guess I find it boring

Yesterday afternoon I watched Signs for the first time in a long time. It has always been my favorite of M. Night Whats-his-name's movies. I know most people prefer The Sixth Sense, but I think Signs is better. I love that it is scary but has a happy ending. And I enjoy the religious aspect of it, and the way the script is written so that everything sort of dovetails.

She couldn't really get into it & then disliked the Werewolf scene.
I prefer 'Signs' too Murf. 'The Sixth Sense' was ruined for me because I figured out the big plot secret quite early on in the movie.
Tonight i'm going to watch some more of 'The Borgias.' I recorded it all on my SKY box when it aired. I think it's awesome & Jeremy Irons is amazing in it!

I had the same experience with Sixth Sense. Even my (then) ten-yr-old son figured it out right away.
Do you remember that Johnny Depp movie, Secret Window? My husband must have broken some kind of record figuring that thing out. He got it inside 30, maybe 20 seconds. I mean, the second he saw the mirror in the opening scene, he knew.

I liked it, too, but I was baffled at how quickly my husband understood it. He saw the mirror and said, "Oh, this is some kind of through-the-looking-glass thing," and proceeded to predict the entire plot.
