Halloween Shopping On-Line Stores VS Retail Stores

Post by Dutchess of Darkness » Sat Aug 11, 2007 12:04 am

Hey Everyone, Do most people do their Halloween shopping at their local stores/stores near by, or do you shop from various on-line stores.
What has your experience been with shopping from on-line stores? The quality, packaging, condition, over costs, damages etc.....
Are there any that people would highly recommend to shop with, and or stay away from?
Anyways, would love to hear about your experiences :D

I LOVE the stuff I have bought off the catalogs.

I got my sign today and my Halloween buntings...from..

http://www.shindigz.com

Check it out:

I love it! The buntings are also awesome.

The inflatable I got from Domestictions is cool. Lillian Vernon is awesome.

Another great Halloween Catalog is Terry's Village.

I never find anything unique in the stores.....

If you do searches for Halloween decorations off this website, you'll find the coolest stuff.

I like finding things that other people don't have.

I haven't bought masks or props online, but I have bought books, stickers, and little trinkets like vampire fangs, spider rings, and the like. I kinda like ordering stuff online, actually...it's not the same as going to the store and seeing the products up close, but it is fun getting Halloween goodies in the mail. The assortment of items you can find online, too, tends to dwarf whatever you might find in local stores. You can hunt around on Amazon or Ebay and find that special thing you're looking for.

You can find ANYTHING on-line, and I often do, however, for me there's just nothing like BEING somewhere that has lots of decor all around waiting to be bought.

Hey Spooky, Thanks for the Info. I just love your sign for your B&B, its awesome. And I never knew you could do searches off this website, where to you go to do the search?
I am actually looking at placing a very small order with Shindigz, talked to them tonight actually, but since I had questions that could only be answered by a Customer Service Rep I have to wait and call again on Monday. Did everything you get from them arrive safely, who did they use UPS? How was the quality of the items? Well Packed?

I know, I've done a lot of shopping on EBay over the years, and I agree with you OEJ, that there's something special about being in a store surrounded by all the Halloween decor, a very wonderful feeling indeed :D

I have a Halloween Store in the general area, it is open year-round but it is some distance away...costs a good chunk of gas money to get down there, but they have lots of masks, costumes, makeup and props...they even have a blacklight room with all the glow stuff glowing. I try to get down there maybe once or twice a year because I...well, I like wandering around in there! I generally buy a thing or two but mainly I go so I can wander around staring at all the stuff!

I do both however I must confess that many times I will check the product out if I can then shop for price.
The bad retailers are usually heavily discussed on the forums so if in doubt ask cause on of use will more than likely know.

Spooky is right Shindigz is awesome, I have bought tons of stuff for different occasions over the years. Very reliable. I do a lot of on line shopping and so far have never been dissapointed. Look at Grandin Road, they have very classy Halloween stuff. And of course Fright Catalogue is my fav Halloween place. I bought my mask last year from the Scream Team, very high quality prosthetic pieces, quite professional, really. I wish we had a year-round Halloween store, my little Glens Fair Price is the closest thing we have. And Spencer's goes all out every year, of course.

Hey D.o.D., If you go on the main page on here...it says Halloween Links, Halloween websites, there's all kinds of cool stuff on here through all the links.

I know about Shindigz....through a catalog...but just go on their website:

http://www.shindigz.com

They are awesome.

I am so excited ...cause my mom said she'd buy me the Lillian Vernon candles and whatever else I wanted ...for my birthday, so I can hardly wait for this Halloween.

It always bums me out that on this messageboard, and the one I belonged to about 80's movies...everyone is always so spread out, like everyone is in another country or in another state...I have only met up with a couple people off the internet...and only 1 lived within 3 hours of my house.

I love getting ideas off here...I read last night on another thread how someone made a cave, and I thought that was the coolest idea.
