About truck driver job

Post by iHaunt » Wed Sep 21, 2011 9:22 am

Anyone know about the truck driver job? Well, something's just bother me because my stepbrother has always changed so many jobs! :? First, he was the perfume salesman then he changed to another job loading and unloading stuffs at the warehouse, again he quit! He worked with his dad at 360 Pizzeria then he quit again! He worked as the chef at seafood restaurant.... omg! He quitted!!! I mean, so many job he always quit!!! I wish he doesn't live here at all! But right now he's driving the truck - you know 18 wheeler? I don't understand he only been on the road, like 2 weeks then come back home for a few days then he will go back on the road again until 2 or 3 weeks.... he still has to come back home again and again! What the f***?

Is the truck driver job good or not? Does the truck drivers have limited schedule?

I believe the schedule you describe for your stepbrother is pretty typical for truckers. They have to go out on their cross-country runs, then they have some time off. There was a man at our church who was a truck driver, but he has been retired for a few years now.

Another job connected with that business is the dispatcher. Somebody has to stay in a central location and tell the truck drivers where to go, etc.

I am under the impression that truckers can make fairly good money. After all, so much of our economy depends on their delivering the goods to the stores, grocery stores, gas stations, etc. But I don't know the typical pay scale, and I guess it would also depend whether the trucker was working for a big trucking company or owned his own rig, etc.

Ok, for example... my stepbrother left here last May to a new job as the truck driver till the end of the month in August. He was here till Labor's Day then he went back to work again... right now he's at home right here! My grandpa told me not to worry because he will go back to work again anytime next week or so.... I thought he would have to make an extra cash to move out and leave here, but NOT!!! Well, he's s**head! I don't know what's going on in his mind, but he has some voice in his head! Just got out of jail recently!!! I thought he would have to stay there for 6- month! Well he got cash to get out of jail!!! Well long story I dont have to type in too much! But, some people are going to get his azz one of these days! :)

If he is still employed after being in jail, I guess it's possible that the economic slow-down has affected the trucking business.

Perhaps, when your stepbrother was gone for most of the summer, he was attending training for part of that time? I don't think most trucking runs would keep a person away for months on end. More like a few days, or 10 days, I could see that. Then the trucker will be home for a while, until he gets his next load and assignment.

I asked my stepbrother to see if he's going back to work as the driver again, he says "YES!" on this Friday. But, I'll have to find out... because my mom and stepdad told me that he doesn't like heavy work job... he only like sit around at home, sit in the truck and drive away period! That's it! So you know, he's against me and I've against him too! Well, family feud! That's my grandpa's fault to let them all into our house!!!

Well, I don't know if the truck drivers are the ones who actively load their trucks, but if all he has to do is sit and drive, then I'd say he's found the perfect job for him!

Well, ok, the problem is.... he has too many debts... he has to owe some money for some reason to payoff... he doesn't want to get married... he doesn't want to have own girlfriend at all... he's just playing around with girls for fun, not serious relationship! My grandpa called him "F**ktard MF!" He still owes about $10,000 dollars! OMG!!! :?

If he has so much debt, perhaps it's best that he isn't thinking about settling down anytime soon.

I'm not an expert on what truck drivers do, but I do know that they get paid by the mile, not the hour, and most of the truckers I know make pretty mediocre money for what they do. It's also a very tough way to make a living, as they drive in all sorts of weather, and most of them have to load and unload their own trailers.

It sounds like your stepbrother is on the road to nowhere, iHaunt. A young man with serious health problems, a spotty job history, arrest record, and few steady relationships in his life. He needs something to turn his life around.

Ok, thanks everyone.... no worries... if my stepbrother lost this kind of job then my stepdad would make him to come back to 360 Pizzeria restaurant to work.... if he refuse to do so then he will be putting out of my house period! But, still I don't believe that b/c everyone loves him! :? FBI and detectives are still looking for him since 6 months or so. Between him and some girls!
