Halloween Wedding

Post by judah » Wed Jun 17, 2009 2:31 pm

I am getting married on Halloween this year! With it being on a Saturday, that makes it so much better. I am looking for decor ideas, suggestions, and favor ideas...since I don't care for orange, my colors are going to be black and fuchsia. :twisted:

My parents were hitched on Halloween, 1947.

Of course back then you didn't get all crazy with the costumes and decor, and the ceremony was in a Catholic church so nothing sacrilegious went on but never the less, it was cool to think that my stodgy old parents had a bit of a dark side to them :twisted:

If I were to marry (perish the thought), especially on Halloween, I'd go with a decay theme.

Things like proper attire, but tattered and dusty, and the party could have a pale complexion make-up effect...ghostly.

You could have the icing on the cake done in pale yellows and gold, to resemble a sepia tone photograph of some long forgotten nuptials.

Of course having it at twilight with only candle light around would be grand.

Great ideas Andy.

To add to that idea, I always had this vision of getting married on Halloween and me and the wife would be a zombie or skeleton bride and groom. "Til death" is in the vows, but I saw it as til death...and beyond. True love lasts forever. Not just until one dies. Maybe even change up the vows a bit to reflect that. Make sense?

Yes it makes sense, 'chill.

Funny you should mention the 'Til Death Do Us Part' thought, because on my way home last night it occurred to me that it would make a great theme for a wedding as well as look great on the cover of the invitations...

I would love to see a halloween themed wedding! My mother and stepfather almost got married on Halloween, but my mom wanted to rush it. I believe they ended up having their wedding October 3rd, but I still remember that they were watching the Nightmare before Christmas! It was just a simple wedding that took place in their own home with a judge to officiate.
I was just a wee small fry back then...and very hyper. I'm a little embarressed actually because I tried to steal the camera and wave one of my stepfather's ferrets in front of it.
My boyfriend and I had our first date in October as well. ^^;
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...
