Thanks for thinking of us in the South. I am in TN, southeast of Nashville. We had a very rough day yesterday, but thank God we didn't get hit as hard as AL did. Our worst storm hit at 6 am yesterday morning, but we were under the gun until almost 8 pm. Lots of downed trees and torn up roofs in our community, power outages off and on throughout the day. I hate tornadoes.

Glad to hear you had no trouble with the evil storm!

Surprise to see you are from TN.

Yep, I am in TN. And to me, TN is up North, because I was born in Mississippi. I have lived in Texas, Georgia, and Virginia, though. Also spent a whole lot of time in Arkansas, because my mother's family is from there.
My father was born in Alabama, but he grew up in Mississippi. Alabama is mainly a place I sometimes vacation (Gulf Shores, beautiful beach). My husband has a sister who lives in Huntsville, though, just over the line from TN. She and her family are also OK, but she texted him that she expected to be out of power for two days.

That's great to see you're not in Alabama anymore.... but I've never been to there before. I didn't know that it has a beautiful beach. Why is that?

Alabama is a Gulf state, so it has a shoreline. Gulf Shores and Orange Beach are located there. The beaches are similar to the Florida panhandle.
Mississippi also has a shore line. Biloxi is located there, of course. I used to go to both Biloxi & Gulf Shores when I lived in MS. Back then, Mississippians thought the AL beaches were cleaner. I guess there is more pollution on the MS beaches, possibly because of the mouth of the Mississippi River? But that was a long time ago. They may be cleaner now. Anyway, now that I live in middle TN, the AL beaches are closer.
I have been to all three coasts, but I actually prefer the Gulf. The surf is gentler there (well, as long as you aren't there during a hurricane!). Also, it has a homier feel to it than the Atlantic or Pacific coasts. And they aren't as crowded as the Northeastern beaches, because there just aren't as many people down here.

As bad as these storms have been elsewhere, I'm disappointed that my spot in Texas always seems to get avoided when heavy weather comes through. All we got where I'm from is cold weather.

Oh, man. No way would I ever want to be in the path of a tornado. They scare me to death.
The one in our town last week was classified an EF-0, which sounds like nothing at all. Yet it toppled a great many trees, including one six or seven stories tall in our backyard, and tore the roof off houses, etc. That's what an EF-
zero can do.
