My grandmother has a pool, and I like going swimming in the evenings because the bats come out just after sunset and swoop down over the water catching bugs and mosquitoes.

There is one that lives in the vent above my back porch (it's more likely that it lives in the attic, to which the vent leads) I call her Soookeehh.

They're friendly bats. They won't bite you or hurt you.... they love to eat small incests and some small fruits... they usually hang up on the tallest trees around here. ;)

When I lived in Ohio, the church in back of my garage was home to bats. During the warm weather, the bats would come out when it was starting to get dark. It was quite an impressive sight watching hundreds of bats emerge from the building. I'd be in my back yard and all these bats would swoop right over my head! Every once in a while a stray one would end up in my house if you didn't close the back door quick enough. We also had hardly any mosquitos on account of the bats.

Believe it or not, bats are actualy a good thing to have around, because they eat all the flys and mosquitos and other pesty insects. I don't like them in my house, but I have no problem with them out in the yard.
