Thank God for that. I don't mean to sound cruel or judgemental, but all of them should have gotten the death penalty. This is one case where the use of such an extreme punishment is justified and even necessary.

I think capital punishment is too extreme.
I've always thought that if murder is proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the murderer should be given solitary confinement for the rest of his/her life. No contact with any other human beings, no TV, no radio, nothing, nada, zip.

Charlie did get the death penalty, but luckily for the SOB they repealed it right after his sentencing, then of course his sentence was reduced to life in prison, but then they reinstated the death penalty but unfortunately, they didnt reinstate his death penalty...Pumpkin_Man wrote: Thank God for that. I remember that. What I don't get is that a lot of other death row inmates who were saved by that, were put back on death row when the death penalty was reinstated. Why wasn't Charls Manson?

They probably don't allow the death penalty for people deemed mentally disabled or insane, and he probably falls into one of those two categories.

I think MacPhantom has a point. There's no IMHO that Charles Manson could not be insane, and the law is leanient on insane people. But I just don't know.

Re: Manson follower denied parole...
Manson's family told everybody they saw Charles Manson was returning as a ghost at their home during the night.
It was happened a few years ago, but nothing's really important. I just liked to snoop around the news on Google.

That's a bit of a stretch, since Chrles Manson is still alive.
His ghost is still united with his body.

Re: Manson follower denied parole...
Did anyone read about that guy in Utah a couple months back that elected to be executed by firing squad? He got his wish. Four bullets right to the torso.
I was surprised to hear they still do that but supposedly it's a legal form of capital punishment in the state.
I'm conflicted about Manson. There's something wrong with the dude but he still had the capacity to control others. So either he wasn't crazy or they were just crazier than he was. Either way, they should all be in prison til they die.

Utah is known for that. IT use to be a choice between fireing squad or hanging. Now a days it's fireing squad or letlal injection. Believe it or not, I think the fireing squad is the least painful and quickest death there is, provided the executioner's marksmanship is up to par. I would have no problem opting for fireing squad if it was me.

Re: Manson follower denied parole...
I believe with this guy there were 5 shooters, all ex law enforcement. However they showed the picture of the thing he was tied too and there were only four bullet holes, so I'm guessing one officer had a "blank" round. They put a blank in one gun so the shooters can have doubt as to if they fired the lethal shot or not.
I think I'd choose lethal injection. I'm worried that the bullets wouldn't kill me right away but would just injure me horribly until I finally bled to death or something...

I'd pick execution by beheading, because I'd like to see if I could still say something after my head was off.

Re: Manson follower denied parole...
if you've ever seen a Manson interview it's pretty easy to see why a bunch of stoned hippies with advanced cases of ganaria could follow him. He has a way of talking that makes you look at him and wonder, where does all of this come from, how does he form these thoughts in his head, he speaks like a profit but to normal people we see it's all BS, but add a bunch of stoned hippies that need to bathe and he seems like the next coming of......whatever.OctoberChill wrote:Did anyone read about that guy in Utah a couple months back that elected to be executed by firing squad?
