Jeckyl & Hyde

Post by Andybev01 » Sat Jan 09, 2010 3:28 pm

Do any of you have a Halloween 'opposite'?

By that I mean when I'm not in Halloween mode, I'm in 'tiki mode'.

I have several books on mid 20th century architecture (googie) and tiki mugs, masks, torches (well of course).

I have pillows and wall art that feature palm trees and lamps made out of bamboo with pineapple objects on them.

So; who are you when your not slouching around a haunted house?
All you that doth my grave pass by,
As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

I'm one of those people that go through hobbies every 6-8 months, I go from one thing to another.......so I am always doing "something".......Halloween is the constant in my life and then I do other hobbies along side it.

Well, I love cats, but even my love of cats won't stay out of my Halloween collection, which is why about 90% of my Halloween stuff consists of black cats.
I'm a Sonic nerd, but even when it's Halloween time I'll make Halloween themed Sonic fan art and whatnot.
I like drawing characters and coming up with stories. But again, Halloween seems to sneak in there somehow as well.
It's difficult for me to separate my interests since a lot of times they tend to intertwine in some shape way or form.
So when it's Halloween...my other hobbies and interests tend to sneak into the Halloween spirit. When it's not Halloween...well...sometimes Halloween will sneak into my other hobbies and interests. :p
I have a coin collection though...in a cigar box which I like to think of as my treasure chest...which makes me feel piratey...which in turn goes back to being something at least loosely related to Halloween. :p
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

I love this topic. First, cause it reminds me of Edinburgh, the city whose duality inspired Stevenson to write The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Second, because the multiple aspects, personalities, and interests of human beings are infinitely fascinating. Kick-boxers who do origami; gourmet chefs who eat at McDonalds; Office of Budget and Management directors who are also ladies' men. Fascinating!!!

For me, when I'm not in Halloween mode, it's Scotland mode. Turns out I've even got an alter ego who speaks with a Scottish accent. His name is Ian. Don't bother telling him that Ian is typically the Irish spelling, and Iain the Scots version; last time I told him, he popped me one. You can't tell him anything. He's not a particularly nice fella.

Ever read The Dark Half by Stephen King?

That's only because you lack imagination. Living so close to Hollywood will do that to you.

dude we're 100% the same on this!! during the summer i'm ALL about the salt life
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!
