I agree. It's just going to blow over like Y2K. I don't think anything's really going to happen, I don't care how much drama they put into it.
It's all about the end of the mayan calender. So what? My calender ends too. Then a new one starts. Every year. People get so crazy about this stuff.
Imagine growing up and your overly religious grandparents constantly tell you about this rapture that's going to happen someday before the big tribulation and the anti christ shows up. It's kind of freaky. It's one thing to believe in God, and it's one thing to be part of a religion, but it's another thing to be insanely religious and plant this irrational fear of the end of the world in you.

Depends on your interpretation of the Anti Christ, RDM. I don't think Obama's an anti christ, nor any of the popes.
I've always believed it was one man, of jewish bloodlines who will claim to be the messiah when in reality it will be a fake possessed by the devil himself. That's always been my understanding. And he'll show up at the time of the tribulation.
Although, I heard there is a spirit of the anti christ as well, which baptist pastor Charles Stanley speaks of.
But I'm one of those, "if you believe in God that's good enough" people.
I'm not sure what your take is on it. You're LDS right? I can't remember what they believe in regards to it.

Like I said, if I had a buck for every 'end of the world' prediction that came and went, I wouldn't have to work for a living. 2012 is just another one of these dates that will come and go.

Well said pumpkin man, you've got a good point.
And don't the Jehovah's witnesses say the world will end in 2014 or something? So when 2012 ends there will surely be another end of the world prediction to follow.
Personally I get tired of them.
