Well, we woke up to about 1/2 inch of snow this morning in Murfreesboro. That counts as an actual snowfall around here! It was very pretty, especially with the Christmas decorations up. Still is, but I'm not expecting it to last long. Temp isn't supposed to get above 39 today, but we have a southern front. Our yard will melt off pretty fast.

Yikes! We haven't even seen flurries flying yet!
I hope it happens soon. They forecast it, it has been cold enough.
I'm going to wonder why I wanted it along about February. :?

So much for the BIG SNOWTORM! Although it did snow all day in the Houston area, it never stuck -- we never ended up with that 3-inch accumulation that was predicted. Around 2:30 or 3, the snow started coming down in larger flakes and was sticking to the cars, roofs, and grass, but by around 4:30 it stopped and the sun came out for a short bit. I spent the afternoon rushing to get all my outside lights up because in case it did look pretty with everything covered in white, I wanted to get a picture with all the lights lit. It did get pretty chilly, as was predicted, with Saturday morning's low of 22. It even looked cold outside, with the grass, cars and roofs covered in frost.

Saturday for the first time since I lived in Salt Lake, my door lock was frozen, I had to open the pass door from the inside, that was pretty weird.

When I woke up yesterday morning, the sky was steely gray, and an icy sleet was falling. As the temperature dropped, the precipitation turned into fat, wet flakes of snow, which fell steadily all day Saturday and into the night. The roads weren't cold enough for it to stick, but it laid well on the ground and coated the trees.

When I opened my shade this morning, it looked like a marshmallow man had exploded outside. The trees were thick with creamy snow, the clouds had moved on leaving the sky a powder blue, and the sun was out, reflecting off the covered ground a beautiful, blinding glare. It was cold enough to hold the snow, but I knew as the day went on it would start to melt, so I took my coffee out on the back porch and enjoyed the first real snow we've had in at least two years. There is something indescribably comforting about being outside in very cold air, drinking hot, black coffee, surrounded by dense, white snow. The starkness of contrast makes me better appreciate the unique traits of each thing.

These are the view from the porch:

LOL i love that smiley!!

we were supposed to get some snow flurries this weekend but NOPE!
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

Thanks for sharing those beautiful photos, Mac!

The chilly weather does put one in the mood for hot drinks. Not just coffee, but cocoa, spiced cider, and Russian tea (something I made for the first time in decades this weekend).

Great pics Mac...if only I could look at snow in pictures and movies I would be happy. We are expecting 8-12 inches this week...after new years you can take it all away.
