I was surprised Russ Feingold lost. He was popular here in Wisconsin and had been in the senate since 92. Big blow to the Dems right there.

I wasn't terribly surprised. Anyone who has been in Congress for more than a term or two ought to consider themselves endangered. And Russ was well loved by progressives, but he wasn't terribly popular within the Democratic caucus in the Senate itself, because of his tendency to buck his party in favor of his principles. You're only allowed to do that in the Democratic Party if you're a Blue Dog.

I almost think Harry Reid winning was a bigger loss to the Democrats, because now we're stuck with his leadership for a few more years. His ineptness when it came to passing healthcare reform is why the Dems left so many corpses on the field on Tuesday.

Anyway, congrats to youse two's team. I hope you're able to enjoy it more than I did the past two years. I have a feeling your party is going to see an awful lot of the same sorts of inner struggles mine did.

I'll tell you how it will go......

Obama will ask the new Repub leadership to a meeting and will tell them how much he's looking forward to working with them on many issues, this will be mentioned in a press conference by both sides at some point.
Then they will actually meet on an issue such as Obamacare reform or some other issue that goes against Obamas plan, they will have meetings, negotiations, neither side will compromise on anything, and then the Dems and the left wing media will say the Repubs went back on their word and refused to work with Obama over and over and over and the Repubs will do the same and FOX news and the Radio shows will report that the Dems are still driving us down the socialist road against the peoples wishes......When in reality neither side was willing to bend and we'll be in dead-lock for the next 2yrs.......

Did either of you happen to catch any of MSNBCs coverage of the election?

I didn't watch any coverage. I popped onto TalkingPointsMemo.com and FiveThirtyEight.com for occasional updates, but I almost never watch cable news any more.
