If it were up to me, he would. He would be required to serve his time, as you put it, in either a juvinile detention center or an insane asylum, the latter being the most likely choice. MOST IMPORTANTLY, if it were up to me, he would not be allowed a drivers licence in any state, for 15 years. That would mean that he couldn't leagaly drive until he's 31. As it stands, he could lose his license for 5 years, which would put him at 21 before he could drive again.

His social life is pretty much over. Like I said, he lost most if not all of his friends. Parents don't wan their kids hanging around with him any more, and some one egged and spray painted his house (actualy his parents house) the other night. I saw it this morning wh en I drove off to work. I feel bad for the kid's parents who have to endure the same ostricization because of what their kid did. I almost but not quite feel sorry for that kid, but when I think about that 6 year old baby, I feel that losing his car and license was getting off easy.

Personaly I would like all of this to blow over, because it's a very ugly situation that has never hapened before while I lived in that town.

you think his parents ever asked him what the silhouettes on the side of his car meant? And if they did, what do you think he told them?

Even if the parents are the nicest, most decent human beings in the entire world, it's hard to believe that they would've had no idea what was going on with him ... not something like this. I wonder if they did know and tried to get him help but he was so far gone that he was a lost cause. Something definitely has to be done about him ... it 's not like this is just some "phase" that he'll, if we cross all our fingers and toes, grow out of. He'll always be someone else's problem wherever he goes.

Well, Sue, I think that's a good point. I have no idea what his parents thought of thos drawings. I think they assumed it was just something he did to be "cute.' The car was a beater, so there was no really nice paing job to screw up. But I also agree that those pictures on the side of the car should have raised a red flag. If I had kids, I would not allow him to drive around with that on his car, and I would be worried about what he was doing. I would have examined the car's undercfariage for "evidence," that I won't go ingo the details about, and most importantly, I would talk to the youngster and ask questions.

I don't know what they wer ethinking. Many parents, in fact, most parents have a tendency to hide their heads in the sand when it comes to things like this. Nobody wants to believe tha their son or daughter was that deranged or cruel. For that reason, the parents were probably in denial. That's no longer the case, however.

At any rate, this whold situation has me a bit depressed and worried. At least I don't have any pets, but I lived here since 1996, and nothing like this ever happened before. Come to think of it, Ilived in Chicago and Joliet, both neighborhods I lived in were not the greatest, and had some violent crime, and nothing like that ever happened even in those neighborhoods.

Yeah, Mike, I also wonder what his parents thought of his car's artwork. Even if the drawings were completely innocent, where this kid just had a sick sense of humor and was perfectly harmless, it's still something that you'd think any parent would make their kid get rid of because it's going to give people the wrong idea.

Like I said, I would never allow such if that were my kid. There also had to be other evidence on the car, and the only reason why the parents didn't know about it, IMHO had to be denial. ">>>>>>My kid would NEVER do a thing like that!!....."

Here's an update. I was talking to a neigobor of mine last night who came to pick up his daughter from school. He told me that the offending car used to kill animals was finaly sold. The guy was having trouble getting anyone to even test drive the vehicle. It was an old late 1980s vintage Camero Irock. Anyway, the car was in good shape save for the painting of the three animals on the side. The father didn't like to even look at that car any more, so he let that classic go for 50 BUCKS! I would have bought it myself for that. 50 BUCKS for an Irock Camero! But then, I'm not too sure that I would want to be seen driving that car either.

i'd have bought it and painted it
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

I don't know if I could drive that car, knowing its sick and creepy history. That's too bad, because it's a great price. And even if the car isn't a classic, it's still a steal at 50 bucks!

It is too bad. Adrian had the smartest idea about painting over the pictures, but I would likely have the whole car painted another color or something. 50 bucks is a very cheap price for even an old beater. But the car's history is also an issue. The Irock was a classic and still is. IMHO the best and probably the quickest Camero that Chevy ever built.

At any rate, I hope who ever bought it enjoys his new ride.

Here's an update. The court hearing was yesterday, and the kid oficially lost his license and was convicted of reckless driving. He will not be allowed to hold a valid drivers license until he's 21 years old, and there were fines in addition to the license revocation, and there were also fines for cruelty to animals. I don't know the exact figure, but it's in th thousands. Too bad it's his parents and not him, who's going to have to pay them. I suppose his parents will withold it from his allowance, but I can't help but to feel that the parents are being punished along with the kid.

I'd make him get a part time job & pay for it!! It may take him forever but you better believe he'd have to think about what he did everytime he wrote that check!!!

I agree with you, Witchy. He should have to pay every penny of those fines, and if he has to work weekends and holidays to do so, then so be it. The only problem: Who would hire him? I wouldn't hire him on a bet to work in my photo studio, and I doubt anyone else is going to want him in their place of business either. Just imagine tha little boy walking into McDonakds with his parents, and seeing the creep that ran over his kat behind the counter. He would have to work in another town or something and without his license there's no way for him to get there. Pehaps community service would be a better rout.

sounds like good punishment but yes, the parents are the ones that will be paying it, not him....
