i bet they are scary!!

no quakes here in Georgia/Bama

speaking of..... GO SEC today in the National Championship
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

I've been in a few quakes when I lived in So. Cal, kind of spooky but for me it was like "what is that? oh a quake....."

There are all types.

The 'big one' from 1989 was like ripples on water, wave after wave that started gentle and built up to tsunami force.
The concrete floor I was standing on rose and fell about a foot either way and the doors in my apartment opened and slammed shut the whole time. Outside the window the pool was sloshing around like a bowl of water.

Others are like someone dropping a huge weight beside you...just one big 'thud'!

Like snowflakes, no 2 are alike.

As you are now so once was I,
As I am now so you must be,
Prepare for death & follow me.

during the Northridge quake I was working security and was in my patrol car and it started bouncing like someone was jumpping up and down on the bumpper, I was like "wtf?"
during another quake a few things fell off my shelves and broke and again I was like "what is that?"..............luckily I never lived close enough to one that I had major damage or injury

Northridge was a doozie from what I hear. I remember seeing the EMT rescuing that parking lot sweeper dude from underneath that collapsed parking lot.

The first one I was in I was sleeping on the living room couch and the shaking woke me up. I thought I was being pranked by my sister.

Naw. It's like a lightening storm, witnessing the awesome power of nature. It helps keep you focused on what is really important in life.

Insurance?
Yes. The typical deductable is 10% of the market value of your property. The median home price lately is around 350K.

Let's say I chose to take up residence in a cardboard refrigerator box on the beach. What kind of numbers would I be looking at.....??
